James Cook University is seeking investors for a private hospital in Townsville.
The north Queensland institution says it will cost $113 million to build a 100-bed facility in the precinct that already houses the town’s public hospital and university clinical training facilities.
Townsville Hospital and Health Board chairman John Bearne says a co-located hospital would streamline transfers from the public emergency department and make it easier for staff to treat private patients.
