A SYDNEY doctor who under-dosed chemotherapy drugs to cancer patients over a three-year period is set to face an inquiry by NSW Health.
DR John Grygiel, an oncologist at St Vincent’s Hospital, gave incorrect doses of the chemotherapy drug carboplatin to 70 head and neck cancer patients from 2012 to 2015, the ABC’s 7.30 program found.
NSW Health has launched an inquiry to be led by chief executive of the Cancer Institute of NSW, Professor David Currow, according to the ABC. Dr Grygiel took leave on Friday, which will last until his planned retirement next month, Health Minister Jillian Skinner has said. “He will not return to the hospital,” she said. “This has been a distressing time for Dr Grygiel’s patients and their families.”
