Qantas Airlines wants you to know that it cares about your in-flight health. So much so that the Australian airliner issued an in-flight exercise video back in April, promoting stretching and increased blood circulation, which can eliminate the risk of developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT). According to the Mayo Clinic, DVT is a serious condition and occurs when a blood clot forms in one or more of the deep veins in your body, usually in the legs. DVT can occur when people are immobile for long periods of time.

“Whilst the risk of DVT is extremely low, it is always important to take preventive measures as the threat is always there,” said Nello Marino, chief executive of Sports Medicine Australia. “Through simple, regular stretching, mobility exercises, and walking around the cabin mid-flight your risk of DVT is dramatically reduced.”

Exercises like the ones shown in the video above can be used to lesson the risk of getting DVT. However, there is mainly one glaring problem with the video. While the exercises are indeed helpful, the female instructor in the video is wearing a sports bra and spandex shots, which is not exactly an outfit typically worn on a flight.
