Olympus released the new generation Cyberwand lithotripter, the ShockPulse-SE, a dual-action system for breaking up kidney, ureteral, and bladder stones. According to the company, this is the first device to deliver “ultrasonic and high frequency bursts of mechanical wave energies,” which hapens at the same time while suction is activated. Olympus believes that the technology allows for larger stones to be broken up faster and easier, while clearing out fragments more efficiently.
The wand has controls at the tip instead of relying on the commonly used foot switches to activate it and there’s practically zero time spent on setting up the system since one socket is used for all the different available probes.
