Seventy-four full-time office positions are to be shed from South Australia’s health department following a review focussed on reducing red tape and duplication.
It follows the reduction of 13 executive roles announced in February from the Department of Health and Ageing’s head office, as well as the relocation of 12 others and shifting of more than 400 staff members to another structure.
SA Health chief executive David Swan said “stage two” of the review had “completed” the process.
He said the net reduction of 73.9 full-time equivalent positions from head office included 13 positions that would be re-allocated to the state’s Local Health Networks.
“If the findings of the review are implemented in full it will reduce the number of head office positions from 2,130 prior to stage one, to 1,606 positions,” Mr Swan said.
It is understood the latest cuts will affect more than 74 people because the full-time equivalent positions affect part-time workers as well.
The Government said the changes would be subject to consultation with staff and unions.
