A water leak is Fiona Stanley’s latest problem.
- Ambulances are being diverted and some elective surgery on Monday will be postponed after a large water leak at Fiona Stanley Hospital.
Fire crews were called to the hospital, which has been beset by a litany of problems since its October opening, around 5am Sunday after an alarm was set off at the hospital.
The hospital confirmed a pipe had ruptured on level two, impacting access to hot water and air conditioning and causing the closure of eight theatres.
The Department of Health will coordinate the movement of about a dozen patients to other hospitals. These patients were due to transfer to other hospitals on Monday and the process was bought forward as a precaution.
A spokesperson from Fiona Stanley Hospital said there was no risk to patient safety.
The pipe was expected to be fixed on Sunday night.
