The nation’s leaders have given the nod to developing an Australia-wide strategy to tackle the ice epidemic.
A national taskforce, led by former Victorian police chief Ken Lay, will work with federal, state and territory governments to develop a plan to combat the scourge of crystal methamphetamine.
It will cover prevention, education, health, community, family support and law enforcement.
“Ice is obviously is a growing national scourge,” Prime Minister Tony Abbott told reporters after the meeting.
The taskforce will supervise a stocktake of what different jurisdictions are doing and what seems to be working best.
