QUEENSLAND’S health minister has called on the prime minister to reverse funding cuts to state hospitals in this year’s federal budget.
CAMERON Dick says the Abbott government’s budget cut of $57 billion from public hospitals over 10 years will take $11.8 billion out of the Queensland healthcare system.
He plans to pressure the federal government to reverse the cuts at COAG Health Council meeting on Friday. “(Prime Minister) Tony Abbott has a chance to right this wrong when this year’s federal budget is handed down on May 12,” Mr Dick said. “Now is the time to show Queenslanders he is willing to reverse the cuts.”
