A WOMAN in isolation at a Canberra hospital has tested negative to the first of two Ebola tests.
THE health worker began showing possible symptoms of the virus on Friday afternoon, shortly after arriving back in Australia from an Ebola treatment centre in Liberia.
ACT Health Acting Chief Health Officer Dr Andrew Pengilley said the first of two Ebola tests has come back negative. The results of a second, to be conducted on Sunday, are expected on Monday. “In addition to the good news that the first test is negative, I can also advise that overnight the patient’s condition has improved,” Dr Pengilley said. “We will be remaining vigilant until the final tests results are confirmed on Monday.” The woman, who has not been named, did not treat any cases of Ebola during her time in Liberia.
