A QUEENSLAND egg producer has recalled two of its products amid a salmonella outbreak.
Darling Downs Fresh Eggs has issued a voluntary recall of its caged and moutain range free eggs.
In a statement, the company said it issued the recall after being advised of a production issue with the eggs that had a Julian date of 036 up to and including 063.
“It was possible that dirty eggs may have been packed into some of these cartons and we are implementing a voluntary recall of these eggs,” the statement said.
Eggs with Julian date prior to and after 036 and 063 are not affected.
The recall comes amid news of another salmonella outbreak in southeast Queensland.
Broadbeach cafe Grocer and Grind has closed after more than 20 of its diners were crippled with suspected salmonella poisoning – days after their head chef was hospitalised with food poisoning.
The cafe has assured customers they were distressed by the situation and were working with Queensland Health to rectify the situation, believed to be tainted eggs from a supplier.
In other news, a police officer handing out a speeding ticket to a driver on a busy highway in southeast Queensland has been struck by another car.
A female motorist has been slapped with a traffic infringement notice for allegedly striking the officer on the Pacific Motorway at Nerang about 7.25am.
Police said the car hit the policeman’s accoutrement belt but didn’t lead to any serious injury.
Meanwhile, Glenn Lazarus has resigned from the Palmer United Party and Tropical Cyclone Nathan is expected to begin moving away from the Queensland coast today.
