Matthew Russo, 37, was suffering from a fever and flu-like symptoms when the first doctor sent him home with cough mixture on January 2, The Townsville Bulletin reports.
Mr Russo was coughing up blood and suffering from pneumonia on January 5 when he saw a different doctor who reportedly prescribed him antibiotics and sent him home.
The next day he was found dead.
Mr Russo’s mother Judy Jensen said she wants answers as to why her son wasn’t admitted to hospital.

“This is Australia, we are not a third-world country and we shouldn’t have someone who is healthy dying from pneumonia.”
