THREE Queenslanders have contracted Hepatitis A from eating frozen berries which have already struck down four people interstate.

Queensland Health announced this afternoon that two people from southern Brisbane and one in Cairns have fallen ill after eating Nanna’s Frozen Berries one kilogram pack.

Dr Sonya Bennett told a media conference that she would expect to see even more cases in relation to this contamination.

She said symptoms would include fever and chills, abdominal pain and nausea.

Dr Bennett said not everyone that consumed the berries would be affected, and that symptoms would show up between 28 and 30 days after consumption.

It can take as long as 50 days.

Dr Bennett said people should only get tested if they start to show symptoms.
