CliniCloud, a new company with offices in San Francisco, CA and Melbourne, Australia, has unveiled a smartphone-connected stethoscope and touchless thermometer combo designed for consumer use.
The stethoscope, that’s really just a chestpiece, connects to the phone via a USB cable. The matching app provides guidance on where to place the stethoscope. It then records the auscultation and you can replay them and send the recordings to your doctor for review. The thermometer is wireless, connecting to the smartphone via Bluetooth. It doesn’t require skin contact, just has to be brought near the skin for a quick reading.
The smartphone “medical kit”, as the company is calling it, costs $109 while pre-orders are taken for July delivery.
