Pregnant women could be at risk from a Listeria-contaminated chicken pasta salad being recalled from supermarkets in Western Australia.
The Zimbulis Caribbean mango chicken pasta salad with a February 12, 2015 use-by date was sold over-the-counter at the delicatessen sections of Woolworths, IGAs and corner shops.
Listeria is unlike many other germs because it can grow in cold temperatures, like those in a fridge.
It has an incubation period of three to 70 days.
The bacteria may cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly and people with low-immune systems.
Symptoms vary but may include fever and chills, headache, stiff neck and sensitivity to light, nausea, diarrhoea, muscle aches and pains, confusion and drowsiness.
Woolworths urged consumers not to eat the salad and said people concerned about their health should seek medical advice and return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
