Misfit, known for its budget fitness and sleep tracking gadgets, is again expanding beyond counting steps and monitoring your movement.

Like most companies, it has its sights set on joining the smart home revolution — and now, you’ll be able to use your Misfit products to control your home’s temperature, lock your doors and play music.

Misfit announced this week that its ultra-affordable $49 Flash and its $99 Shine trackers will work with platforms such as Spotify, Nest, Logitech Harmony, Yo, automation service IFTTT and the August smart lock. That means you’ll be able to press Flash’s big button several times to work with one of those products, serving as a remote control to power them up.

It’s no surprise that Misfit is eyeing smart home automation. Earlier this month at CES, it announced the Misfit Bolt bulb, which lets users control their home lighting via an app.

According to research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), the smart home technology will become a $35 billion market by 2020.

Companies continue to develop products as a part of the larger Internet of Things trend, which refers to items like refrigerators, TVs, thermostats and of course, wearables, which typically work with an app and connect to the web. Eventually, these items will work together to form a fully connected home.

While most wearables tend to be clunky and unattractive, Misfit recently launched a higher-end accessories collection with Swarovski accessories. Users can also pop out the Shine tracker’s sensor-filled core and pop it into one of its bracelets and pendants for a more polished look.
