WARWICK hospital director of nursing Jane Waite welcomed the $47,500 worth of equipment on offer from a re-elected Liberal National Government.
The funding will allow the Warwick hospital to purchase a $32,000 Lifepack 12 defibrillator, a new $7,500 Care Assist Bed to helop immobile patients get in and out of bed and an $8,000 Vein Seeker which uses infrared technology to assist nurses and doctors inserting drips.
“This is absolutely good news. The Care Assist Bed will help make the nursing of heavy and end of life patients easier, so our staff don’t have to put themselves at risk,” she said.
A re-elected LNP Government have promised an additional 36 doctors, 125 nurses and 34 health practitioners to the Darling Downs over the next three years.
Member of Darling Downs Hospital Board and Condamine Medical Centre Doctor, Dr Ross Heatherington said any new resources to help staff were welcome.
“The money is definitely going to the right places. I’d like to see improvement in the emergency department and maternity ward. And yes I think it will happen,” he said.
“The board has a priority list and the Warwick hospital is on there, right behind Kingaroy.”
Millmerran hospital also received a visit from the minister on Saturday to announce $28,500 worth of new equipment including an $8,00 analgesic inhalation unit, an $8000 vein seeker, a $3000 urinalysis machine, a $7,500 care assist bed and a $2000 portable pulse oximeter.
