ABBOTT’S $20 GP FEE FLOPS

As a person who has had several chronic, life-threatening diseases since childhood, but does not have a healthcare concession card (my partner works in between looking after me and the house), Tony Abbott makes me feel nothing but fear.

Edna smh.com.au

Abbott is taking the tough decisions to fix the budget disaster Labor left us with. Labor still has no solutions to stopping our debt from spiralling out of control over the next decade. Glad Abbott has the guts to do what’s right.

Gatsby smh.com.au

Is this a scraped barnacle being rescraped?

Sean twitter.com/smh

So let me get this straight. They announced a $7 “co-payment” (read TAX) in the budget. They then backed away from that with the Medicare payment adjustments. Now they are backing away from the back-away position?

David facebook.com/smh

Labor will never do what is good for the country, Medicare is unsustainable.

Pagey twitter.com/smh

I never felt my doc rushed me through. Most of my visits were less than 10 minutes. Abbott’s new “six-minute medicine” is just his latest lame slogan. Untrue and generally stupid.

Lisa facebook.com/smh

The guy can’t get anything through. What a joke his policies are. Gillard managed to get many signature policies through despite a minority government.

Julian facebook.com/smh

Gee, where do the self-proclaimed, hash-tagged, living in denial, progressives think the govt is going to find the billions to pay off the $300 billion debt Swan and Wong left for our great grandchildren. It defies logic, a rare commodity in the utopian world of the garden pixies.

Enough is enough smh.com.au

Totally predictable. The smartest thing they have done this year. Now they will be hoping everyone will be sighing with relief, they won’t complain about the $5 sick tax.

Dr Phil smh.com.au

Australia has become a nanny state. People don’t want to pay for services, expect handouts, can’t figure out the country is broke!

Duchess twitter.com/smh

Yeah because when there are 50 people waiting at the doctors, the doctor has all the time in the world with each patient, what a load of rubbish.

Sam facebook.com/smh

When Bill starts spruiking his great big new carbon tax, price signals in the health system are going to look mild, wouldn’t you think?

Hacka smh.com.au

By the time my old legs get me into the surgery, my  six minutes will be up.

Judy smh.com.au

Our medicare is not perfect but is one of the things that we really should hold onto dearly.

Kyle facebook.com/smh

Medicare needs to be sustainable. What is good for Medicare may not necessarily be good for the budget. Time Shorten stops playing this ridiculous game of avoidance and silence.

Piped Piper smh.com.au

If government really serious about reducing use of GPs, introduce primary health clinics with nurse practitioners to do routine checks.

Ailsa twitter.com/smh

I worry more about the electorate’s unwillingness to allow any change to occur on any platform. Political management by appeasing all people all of the time. Tragic.

David smh.com.au

The Dead Sea of LNP rhetoric! Even if it’s dead it still floats, but the smell still lingers …

SIEGE VICTIMS AREN’T HEROES: FRED NILE

Fred Nile is a nobody. No one can’t take what he says seriously. It’s easy for him to judge and say that when he hasn’t gone through a 17-hour ordeal with a mad man who has a gun. Not everybody is Rambo.

Abu facebook.com/smh

I agree that bravery awards should be reserved for those who act brave, not simply get caught in the crossfire. I do also believe Nile has a point that men should be brave and lay their lives down for women, children and the elderly.

Jason facebook.com/smh

He’s hardly what I’d call the paragon of logic even at the best of times but this is award-winning stupidity, even for him.

Belinda twitter.com.smh

You guys can’t be serious. You wave your “I’m Charlie too” comments, and attack Fred for his opinions. I haven’t been a supporter of the guy, I don’t like his opinions, and haven’t for 30 voting years, but I’ll defend his opinions. How shameful of you.

Dave smh.com.au

ANYONE voting for Fred Nile should be deeply ashamed of themselves and question whether or not they should be using their right to vote. He is not fit to represent people in parliament. He should confine himself to blathering away in a cupboard.

Shirley smh.com.au

A bravery award for what?? Fleeing? The guy who tried to fight him should get one and that’s it.

Tom facebook.com/smh

The best thing Fred could do for his Christ is to keep a very low profile. I wish religious types practiced more than they preached.

Colonel Kurtz twitter.com/smh

Bravery awards are a bit OTT. Saving yourself is survival. Putting yourself at risk to save others is bravery.
