This smart baby bottle holder monitors food intake
LAS VEGAS — From the company that brought us the much-hyped smart fork comes a new food tracking gadget: a smart baby bottle holder.
At CES 2015, French company Slow Control showed off its Baby GiGL, which helps parents keep track of how much and how fast a baby is drinking.
The smart bottle, which works with an app, also gives feedback on how to properly hold the bottle at a particular angle so the baby doesn’t swallow air, and it alerts you if there are lumps clogging the bottle.
If you’re at work and a nanny is feeding the baby, you can also get an alert on your smartphone that reveals data about the feeding, such as time and quantity consumed.
The product, which will cost about $100 and go on sale starting this summer, is a part of a larger trend of baby technology. For example, the MiMo Baby Monitor is a onesie for infants that monitors respiration, skin temperature, body position, and sleeping and activity levels.
And similar to the Baby GiGL, the Sleevey was a popular $85,000 Kickstarter campaign for a smart bottle holder that tracks a baby’s nutrition.
Slow Control is no stranger to launching food quantifying products at CES. In 2012, it attracted a lot of media buzz with the HAPIfork, which helps you keep track of how much you’re eating so you can lose weight. While the smart fork hasn’t hit the mainstream consumer market yet, the company said it is being used in the medical field (at hospitals) to monitor food intake.
