GHB
Three men have been charged after two people were taken to hospital with suspected drug overdoses in southern Sydney.
A 23-year-old man is reported to be in a serious condition while a 23-year-old woman is stable with both believed to have taken GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate).
GHB, also known as fantasy and liquid ecstasy, can be found in the form of a white powder or crystals but is usually sold as a clear liquid.
Police were alerted on Sunday after they were taken to hospital in separate incidents after allegedly obtaining the drug in the Brighton-le-sands area.
Officers attended a hotel there about 5.50am and arrested the three men and a teenage girl. She was released without charge.
A 21-year-old man from Guilford was subsequently charged with assaulting police while a 21-year-old man from Greenacre was charged with possessing a prohibited drug.
He was granted conditional bail to appear before Kogarah Local Court on January 6.
A 25-year-old man from Greenacre is to be issued with a future service court attendance notice for possessing restricted substance.
