Council papers revealed Brisbane City Council had established a law in 2011 prohibiting smoking in the Queen St Mall, but Logan will not follow the lead of BCC.
In neighbouring council areas, Redland City Council had a subordinate local law preventing smoking at a jetty or ramp and Ipswich City Council prohibited smoking in some pedestrian malls and at all bus stops and taxi ranks on local government-controlled roads.
