A WEST Australian man has been cleared of Ebola after being tested in a Perth hospital following a trip to west Africa.
THE patient recently returned from a visit to Sierra Leone and was tested at the state’s quarantine facility, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, after developing fever-like symptoms.
A Health Department spokesman said the patient had notified the hospital in advance before arriving. “His symptoms were consistent with another diagnosis, and this other diagnosis was confirmed on laboratory testing,” the spokesman said. The man was the fifth person to be tested for Ebola in WA. The other four people were all cleared of the disease.
