Cadell residents will now need to travel to Morgan to see a GP.

Doctors from the Waikerie Medical Centre used to see patients in Cadell and Morgan once a week.

However, the centre’s Ian Gartley said it would no longer service Cadell, due to decreasing demand and time constraints.

He said it would continue to see patients in Morgan and would set aside a number of appointments specifically for people from Cadell.

Dr Gartley said it would affect about 100 people.

“We are mindful of the inconvenience to the people from the township of Cadell but it’s not a decision that we’ve taken lightly, it’s not a decision that … we have any joy in making,” he said.

“We’ve been going to Cadell for many, many years and … it’s with a heavy heart that the decision’s made.”

Dr Gartley said servicing one town would allow its doctors to see more patients.

“We need to look at how that day is utilised, because of the travel time, as a business we actually lose money when we go to Morgan,” he said.

“This isn’t about money, this is about trying to improve the service overall for the people in the communities of Cadell and Morgan.”
