Two far north Queensland doctors who were suspended after raising concerns about the Cairns Hospital’s handling of infectious diseases still have not been allowed to return to work.
The specialists were stood down on full pay in mid-October after speaking out about a local ebola scare and the treatment of tuberculosis patients.
Queensland Health subsequently appointed a three-member panel to investigate governance, communication and patient treatment.
Hospital CEO Julie Hartley-Jones said it would wait for the findings of the independent review before determining what action would be taken.
She said the doctors remained on full pay and their workload was being covered internally.
The Together Union said the doctors were due to be reinstated earlier this week.
