THE parents of a nine-year-old boy who died within a day of being discharged from a Brisbane hospital desperately hope an inquest will answer their questions.
ORMEAU boy Hunter Marr died on January 6, 19 hours after being discharged from Mater Children’s Hospital against his parent’s wishes.
He was being treated for breathing difficulties. An inquest into his death opens in Brisbane on Friday. Outside court Hunter’s grieving parents said they hoped the probe would shed light on the death of their “beautiful boy”. “It’s a very emotional day for us both and we’re really looking forward I think to seeing where this thing will lead us,” Hunter’s father Matthew Marr told reporters. “This is about accountability, it has always been about accountability, and Hunter Marr.” Queensland’s southeast region Coroner James McDougall is expected to examine what caused Hunter’s death and the appropriateness of care provided at the Mater and by Queensland Ambulance Service. The inquest has been set down for six days.
