Country Health SA is again on the lookout for doctors for Penola, with the town’s two general practitioners planning to move on after a year working at the medical clinic.

Dr Naif Saigol has been accepted into a GP specialist training program, while Dr Wasif Baig is leaving for family reasons.

Both are planning to finish up at the end of January.

Country Health SA south-east regional director, Jayne Downs, said expressions of interest were being invited to run the clinic privately, with GP services provided under contract to the hospital for inpatient and emergency services.

Any gaps in coverage would be supported by locum GPs.
