A Perth teenager and his parents have been arrested over their alleged involvement in a “doctor shopping” fraud to supply a so-called homebake heroin manufacturing lab.

WA Police said they had cracked a ring allegedly obtaining large amounts of prescription drugs from medical centres and pharmacies, and selling them on.

Police will allege a Baldivis couple received cash, drugs, chemicals and stolen property in return for the medication.

“Through the course of the operation investigators identified that the two supplied the drugs to a person on a regular basis, knowing that it was being used in the manufacture of a prohibited drug otherwise known as Homebake Heroin,” a police statement said.

On Thursday police raided two homes in Baldivis and Kenwick.

In Baldivis, officers said they seized drugs and paraphernalia, while an improvised drug lab, prohibited drugs, medication and cash were allegedly found at the Kenwick property.

Police arrested the Baldivis couple and their 15-year-old son.

The teenager was with his 47-year-old father at the time of the arrest, and had cash hidden in his underwear, which police said was the alleged proceeds of the supply of a prohibited drug.

Police also raided other homes and business properties.

The Baldivis woman, aged 40, the man and their son were refused bail and remanded to appear at Perth magistrates and Perth children’s courts today.
