An Australian placed in home quarantine in Thailand, amid concerns he could have Ebola, has been given the all clear.

The 47-year-old man spent 21 days at home in Trat Province, southeast of Bangkok, before being cleared by Thai health authorities this week.

He had returned from the Democratic Republic of Congo on October 17 and was placed under close observation after recording an elevated temperature on arrival in Bangkok.

He has refused to comment publicly but said he is relieved the ordeal is over.

The Democratic Republic of Congo declared an Ebola outbreak in late August, which is believed to be separate from the outbreak in west Africa.

The outbreak there has killed 49 people, but there has been no new reported cases since early October.
