A total of eight people have been tested for Ebola in Western Australia, a parliamentary committee hearing has heard.
Acting director-general of health Bryant Stokes told the hearing all eight had been tested for the deadly virus within the past two months.
They all tested negative.
He said health workers were being trained to properly handle suspected Ebola virus infections.
The training focused on how to correctly wear protective gear, and how to dispose of contaminated material, such as bodily fluids or even hospital bed mattresses.
Professor Stokes said Perth had up to three ambulances large enough to carry suspected Ebola patients and the necessary protective equipment.
