Patients coming in for a doctor’s visit are often put through a battery of tests to gather data on their vitals. This usually involves a nurse taking the time to go through the steps, often a time-consuming process that can benefit from a bit of automation.
Hygeia, a new company based in Atlanta, Georgia, has developed a kiosk that can help quickly measure things like blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, oxygen saturation, and the person’s weight. The H1 Clinical Kiosk still requires a nurse to help guide the process and to make sure everything is being performed correctly. That is done via a paired up tablet or smartphone that can control what’s happening on the screen built into the kiosk.
Having all the measurement tools, including being able to manually enter data about things like the patient’s height, sex, and reason for visit, can speed up the gathering of vitals, move more people through the process, and get patients to see their doctors in a faster fashion.
The company is about to begin beta testing the H1 and hopes to also expand its capabilities before finalizing it as a final product.
