The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service (HHS) says four new doctors will increase the care available at Warwick hospital’s emergency department.
The decision was made at the HHS board meeting yesterday.
Chairman Mike Horan said it also made sure that the doctors had a good level of experience.
“It is important to have a level of experience because that means that they don’t necessarily have to go calling in highly experienced doctors all the time,” he said.
He said the board identified a need for more staff at the hospital.
“These four additional doctors will all be working within the emergency department and that’ll assist the existing doctor there, particularly with after-hours and weekends,” he said.
