DOCTORS at Queensland’s biggest hospital have called for crisis talks after the latest in a series of shock sackings, suspensions and resignations of top bosses.

The Medical Staff Association at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital will meet on Wednesday to raise concerns about “governance” decisions of the Metro North Hospital and Health Board.

The “extraordinary general meeting” follows the shock departure last Monday of RBWH executive director Keshwar Baboolal after less than two years in the job.

When contacted by The Sunday Mail , he said his legal team had advised him not to comment further about his abrupt exit from the hospital.

His departure comes amid a string of suspensions and resignations of senior management in Metro North.

DEPARTURE: RBWH executive director exits

RESIGNATIONS: Doctors concerned about medical leadership

Staff say about 20 executives have either resigned, been sacked or suspended at Metro North in the past 18 months, including five in recent weeks.

The health service’s executive director of nursing and midwifery, Lesley Fleming, has resigned and will leave the service next month.

Metro North human resources manager Angela Wilke has also recently resigned.

Last month, Metro North chief executive Malcolm Stamp and executive director of corporate services and performance Scott McMullen were suspended on full pay while nepotism allegations are investigated by the Crime and Corruption Commission.

Queensland Nurses Union secretary Beth Mohle said her members were anxious about the leadership void at RBWH and Metro North generally, given the number of executives who had left suddenly.
