THE executive director of Queensland’s largest hospital has left the role, effective immediately.

Staff at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital were told in an email today that Professor Keshwar Baboolal’s employment had concluded. No reason was given.

Prof Baboolal was reappointed in August.

His departure from the Metro North Hospital and Health Service comes only weeks after the suspension on full pay of the service’s chief executive Malcolm Stamp and its executive director of corporate services and performance Scott McMullen.

Queensland’s Crime and Corruption Commission is investigating nepotism claims involving Mr Stamp’s daughter Katy.

In an email outlining Prof Baboolal’s departure today, acting Metro North chief executive Kerrie Mahon thanked him for the contribution he had made to the health service.

She said Professor Darren Walters, Metro North’s Cardiothoracic executive director, had agreed to act as RBWH executive director until at least February next year.
