Having received FDA clearance last month, AliveCor has released a new version of the app for its Heart Monitor that is able to automatically detect atrial fibrillation. The Heart Monitor snaps onto the back of smartphones and functions as a one lead ECG, with recordings instantaneously displayed on the phone’s screen. The app previously allowed sharing the recordings with specialists hired by AliveCor that can interpret the charts, but the new version of the app is able to notice certain irregular heart beats to immediately notify the patient.
Users of the Heart Monitor can take notes regarding medication taken, food intake, and physical activity to go with the recordings that together can be passed on to one’s physician.
“With AliveCor’s new app my patients can forgo pulse monitoring and paper-based logging which is often unreliable and incomplete,” said Jonathan S.
