Sonic Healthcare said its full year net profit after tax rose 14.9 per cent to $385.0 million, boosted by strong growth in Australian and European pathology operations, but dragged back by fee cuts in the United States business.

The result missed the consensus among analysts of net profit in the year ended June 30 of $392.3 million, but was up from $335 million in the same period last year.

The medical centre, diagnostic imaging and pathology operator’s earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation at constant currency rose 5.4 per cent to $681.5 million, which met guidance of 5 per cent growth.

The Sydney-based company reported a 12.3 per cent rise in revenue to $3.9 billion, which was in line with consensus among analysts of $3.9 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Revenue hit $3.5 billion in the 2013 financial year.
