UPDATE: TOOWOOMBA Hospital acting general manager Dr Hwee Sin said the bomb threat has been stood down.
She said the Queensland Police Service advised their investigations have concluded there was no safety threat to patients, visitors or staff at the hospital.
The Code Purple was put in place earlier today after a bomb threat was made via an anonymous phone call to Toowoomba Hospital around 11.30am.
EARLIER: POLICE found no devices when they searched Toowoomba Hospital after a bomb threat was called in.
The anonymous phone call was made to a hospital unit at about 11.30am.
Toowoomba Hospital acting general manager Hwee Sin Chong said officers had found no risk to patients or staff after the non-specific threat was made.
“The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service enacted its standard emergency preparedness response after a bomb threat was made via an anonymous phone call to Toowoomba Hospital around 11.30am today.
“A comprehensive security sweep of the hospital did not identify any risk to patient, visitor or staff safety.
“A “Code Purple” (bomb threat) remains in place at the hospital and security patrols have been increased.
“The health service is working closely with the Queensland Police Service to resolve the situation.”
