Paramedics will quit if the government’s latest pay offer is implemented, the union has warned, as the stand-off between the twointensifies.

On Wednesday the state government tabled a new offer to the Ambulance Employees Association that featured a doubling of the sign-on bonus to $3000.

But key work conditions pursued by the government continue to be resisted by the union – specifically a rule that would allow Ambulance Victoria to force country paramedics to work in another part of the state for up to a month.

Currently, metropolitan paramedics are moved to different stations to cover absent shifts, but the plan to apply the same rules to country paramedics has been met with anger.
