Australia’s largest IVF provider Virtus Health is set to challenge Monash IVF’s push into Asia by building a $3.5 million facility in Singapore with three local fertility experts.
The move by Virtus comes on the eve of Monash IVF, Australia’s second-largest fertility provider, listing on the ASX on Wednesday to raise a total of $315.9 million. Monash already operates the second-largest fertility clinic in Malaysia and has several arrangements with clinics in China.
But Virtus CEO Sue Channon said the company had been planning its Asian expansion for some time and the timing of the announcement was coincidental.
”In June last year we said we would be looking for opportunities offshore. It is the second of the two or three projects we have been working on,” Ms Channon said.
