Health Minister Lawrence Springborg has been caught out again claiming credit for the achievements of the former Federal Labor Government, this time over dental waiting lists in Stafford.
“Given Mr Springborg’s lack of achievements as Minister apart from funding cuts and sackings, it’s not surprising that he tries to take credit for the funding decisions made by other governments,” Shadow Health Minister Jo-Ann Miller said.
“It’s quite incredible that we’ve seen the arrogant and out-of-touch Premier avoid the people of Stafford at all costs, and now we have the Health Minister trying to pull the wool over their eyes.
“It was the former Federal Labor Government that allocated $67 million to help states clear dental waiting lists.
“Queensland received $8 million of that in 2012-13 alone under the National partnership Agreement that Tony Abbbott has now torn up and thrown in the bin.
“Only Labor Governments see fit to invest in health, especially when it comes to making healthcare affordable to everybody.
“Liberal and National Governments try and make healthcare less accessible, which is why Tony Abbott has introduced a GP tax on families and Campbell Newman seems intent on selling off our public health facilities to the private sector.
“Queenslanders can spot a fake when they see one, which is why it’s ludicrous that Mr Springborg runs around the state claiming credit for this initiative.
“It’s time he rolled up the sleeves and did something other than allowing the ongoing privatisation of our public health system.”
