“The board are pleased to advise that John Baillie, who is one of our experienced executives and a previous CEO with NovaCare, will take over operational responsibilities as chief operations officer effective immediately,” board chairwoman Karen Howard said yesterday.
The announcement came on the same day the Newcastle Herald revealed that Carol Bennett had tendered her resignation as the chief executive officer of Hunter Medicare Local.
Ms Bennett, who had been chief executive for just five months, resigned due to the illness of a family member.
In announcing Mr Baillie’s appointment, Ms Howard noted the board had recently appointed Dr Kevin Sweeney as executive clinical adviser.
“We have a strong depth of talent within our organisation and are confident that the contributions and hard work of our valued and loyal staff will continue to hold us in good stead,” Ms Howard said.
