The Member for Northern Tablelands says funding for the Armidale Hospital redevelopment has been allocated in the State Budget, but he’s not sure exactly how much.

Armidale is one of six locations across the state announced to share $50 million for regional health infrastructure.

Adam Marshall says it’s part of the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund, which will be used to fast-track regional hospital redevelopments.

He says he doesn’t know yet how much of that $50 million Armidale Hospital will get.

“As the local MP I’d love to get all of it if I could, because we just want that project to get done,” he said.

“But at this stage, we’re going through the planning process, that will be finalised in late November, early December, and we’ll get a clearer picture then of how much we need for the project.

“That’ll give me the opportunity to attack not only the Health Infrastructure Fund, but the Health Capital Budget Fund, as well as hit up my Federal colleague Barnaby Joyce.”

Adam Marshall says he’s optimistic the redevelopment plans are progressed enough to put it ahead of other projects.

“It puts Armidale as the most progressed project of all of those hospitals, so Armidale stands a very good chance of picking up a lot, if not the vast majority of that fund this financial year,” he said.

“At the moment we are the most advanced project, because we’ve been active as a community, and come November or early December, we’ll have a project that’s shovel ready.”

The State Government has previously committed $10 million to the redevelopment.
