Five people are being monitored after they came into contact with a horse infected with the deadly Hendra virus on the New South Wales north coast.
The Department of Primary Industries says the horse died on a property near Murwillumbah on Thursday night.
The property has been placed in quarantine and the dead horse has been buried.
