A SENIOR psychologist with Queensland Health has been preselected by the LNP to contest July 19 Stafford by-election.
In a statement today, Bob Andersen, who works at the Princess Alexandra Hospital, said he was “passionate” about representing the Stafford community.
“This government has a track record of significant improvement to frontline service delivery in Queensland, including health and education, which are two of my key issues,’’ he said.
“I will work to ensure the people of Stafford continue to benefit from the reforms undertaken by the Newman Government.”
Meanwhile, Mr Newman has officially been given the nod by the LNP to defend his own seat of Ashgrove.
Mr Newman – like all LNP MPs – had to be preselected by the party before he was allowed to stand in his electorate at the next state election.
“The Premier has the full support of the LNP in guiding his government through the tough but necessary reforms to repair the mess left by Labor,” LNP president Bruce McIver said in a statement.
“He has also shown tremendous commitment to the people of Ashgrove throughout this process.
“Queensland is now seeing the benefits of the Premier’s determination to build a strong, four-pillar economy and improve the delivery of frontline services.”
