I am an intern, and I am extremely dismayed- A post by an intern on Qld crisis #smoqld #qldpol #keepourdoctors

Not just at the crisis itself, but also how it has been handled by the politicians and the media.

There is a complete lack of critical journalism. On our part, we have not made an excellent PR campaign (as we are not used to it, I suppose).

I have made an image macro for easy dissemination on the web. The problem is, doctors have been writing in letters, but not easily digestible by the public – this is where the Govt and Courier Mail are excelling.

My image macro is on the whole negative, hopefully it’ll inspire others to make their own; we need positive ones about Doctors too – the sacrifices they make, that they are not in in for the money, the care they have for all Queenslanders – but that they will not put up with slander and lies for the sacrifices they’ve made.

Another idea is to contrast the morals and sacrifices of doctors (what the public’s perceptions of doctors usually are) with the slander the govt is saying. The lies of the Courier Mail, …. Great slogans could be ‘If doctors did it for the money… they’d be politicians. Doctors don’t earn 400k/year – Politicians do.” “As highly-skilled, continuously trained professionals, Doctors aren’t replaceable – Politicians are.”

In summary, we need distilled messages, easily relatable and conveyable to the public, that demonstrate the inconsistencies and injustices of the contracts, whilst highlighting the positive qualities and sacrifices of the doctors as they try to strength through this oppression.
