Queensland Health Director-General Ian Maynard has written to senior medical officers and visiting medical officers today ( 19 March) providing them with a proposed addendum to their individual contracts to resolve outstanding issues and concerns.

He has also informed them that changes will be made to the Hospital and Health Boards Act 2011 to ensure that any Employment Directives cannot be inconsistent with their contracts.

Mr Maynard said contracts for senior medical staff would also be reviewed within 12 months of implementation.  A Contracts Advisory Committee will also be established to provide advice on all issues relating to contracts.

He has urged doctors to review the addendum before making any decisions about their next course of action. Mr Maynard says he’s confident the information provided delivers genuine solutions to all concerns that have been raised.

The letter to senior doctors and the proposed contract addendum is available on the Queensland Health website at
