SMOs reject current #Queensland #Health contracts- More SMO briefings are scheduled
Our fight against the Queensland Governmentâs toxic, unfair employment contracts has grown over the past couple of weeks.
Hundreds of SMOs statewide are voting to reject the contracts with well-attended hospital meetings in #Brisbane, #Ipswich, #Cairns, #Townsville, #Mackay, #Nambour and #Gold Coast.
More briefings are scheduled including:
â˘Cairns: 5pm, Thursday 20 Feb
â˘Townsville: 5pm, Wednesday 26 Feb
â˘Redlands: Thursday 13 March
â˘Mackay MSA: 5pm, Thursday 13 Feb
â˘Logan: 5pm, Tuesday 18 Feb
Please come along, have your say and support our health system.
Already, these contracts are driving doctors out of public hospitals and together we will rally for fair and equitable working conditions.
The AMA and ASMOF continue to urge all SMOs to reject the employment contracts in their current form.
If an HHS invites you to negotiate a contract, we strongly recommend that you:
â˘Politely decline to attend – a pro forma email is here to assist with correspondence.
â˘If you decide to attend negotiations, take a union representative.
â˘Refuse to sign anything until you have seen and read a final copy of the contract.
Despite numerous requests, Queensland Health is yet to provide doctors with crucial information such as KPI requirements, policies applicable to the contract, private practice framework and guidelines, and your individual remuneration.
Need help?
If you have questions or need further advice, contact your local delegate, the ASMOF hotline 1300 362 193 or the AMA QLD hotline 1300 356 155.
We have appealed to the Minister for Health to return to the negotiating table and will keep you updated on any progress.
ROPP Report
This week AMA Queensland and ASMOF issued strong public responses to the latest Auditor-Generalâs Report on the Right of Private Practice, arguing that it must not be used to impugn the entire profession and calling for improvements that strengthen public health, make it easier for doctors to look after their patients and give Queenslanders confidence that the system is being managed properly.
It is vital that Queensland doctors stand together at this turbulent time to protect our patients and our workplaces.
